HEIC to JPEG converter

Preview HEIC and HEIF photos, choose JPEG quality and download the result without uploading your photo.

How to use

Choose a HEIC or HEIF photo, wait for the preview, choose JPEG quality and select Convert to JPEG. Download saves a new file; your original is unchanged. Processing happens in your browser without uploading the photo.

Start with 90% quality, then compare the preview and output size. For a smaller attachment, try 70% and convert again. This percentage controls JPEG encoding quality: 70% does not mean a file that is 30% smaller. Choose Original resolution to keep the dimensions, or limit the longest side to 2560, 1920 or 1280 pixels. Proportions are preserved and smaller photos are never enlarged. Resizing happens after decoding: input limits still apply.

The converter reads the primary image, including supported rotation and cropping. It accepts files up to 25 MB, 40 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side. Decoding is stopped if it takes more than 30 seconds. HEIF is a container: this tool supports HEVC images, not every codec or image sequence.

Example

  • Share a photo by emailConvert at 90%, check the file size and download the JPEG. If it is still too large, try 70% or use the image resizer to reduce its dimensions.
  • A 4000 × 3000 photoThis is 12 megapixels, within the image limit if the source file is also no larger than 25 MB. With Original resolution selected, the JPEG keeps those dimensions.
  • An 8000 × 6000 photoThis is 48 megapixels and exceeds the 40-megapixel limit, even if the file is smaller than 25 MB. Export a smaller copy from the original device first.

Frequently asked questions

Are JPG and JPEG different formats?

No. They are two file extensions for the same image format. This tool downloads a .jpg file.

Does 100% quality preserve the original exactly?

No. JPEG conversion is not lossless, even at 100%. It does not improve the source photo; keep the HEIC original if you need to edit or archive it.

Why can the JPEG be larger?

HEIC and JPEG use different compression methods. A high-quality JPEG can take more space. Compare the actual result rather than assuming that conversion reduces file size.

Are all photos in the file exported?

No. Only the primary image is converted. Live Photo video, depth maps and other images are not exported.

Are metadata and transparency preserved?

The original EXIF, location and capture metadata are not copied to the JPEG. Transparent areas are flattened onto white. Keep the original if you need its metadata or transparency.

Why does conversion fail?

The file may be damaged, use an unsupported codec or exceed a size or time limit. Choose another file or export a JPEG from the device that created it.
