About nTools
nTools is a small collection of focused online tools for the kind of task that interrupts your day: converting a timestamp, checking a subnet, counting characters, formatting JSON, working out a discount. Each one does a single job and shows the answer immediately.
How it works
Wherever the browser can do the work, it does. Calculations, text processing, image resizing and format conversion all run on your own device, so the content you paste in never leaves it. Only the tools that genuinely need an external source — DNS, WHOIS/RDAP, IP information and Brazilian postal codes — make a network request, and each of those goes through this site’s own endpoint rather than contacting a third party from your browser.
Where your data goes, tool by tool
The claim above is easy to make and hard to check, so here is the whole of it. Four tools make a network request; every other tool on the site makes none. Where a request happens it goes to this site’s own endpoint first, which then queries the source — your browser never contacts the third party directly.
| Tool | What leaves your browser | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| DNS lookup | The domain name and the record type | A DNS-over-HTTPS resolver (Cloudflare, or Google as fallback) |
| WHOIS / RDAP lookup | The domain name or IP address | rdap.org |
| What is my IP? | Nothing you type — it reads your own connection | rdap.org, for the network block your address belongs to |
| Postal code lookup (Brazil) | The postal code | ViaCEP, over the public Correios data |
| Contact form | Name, email, subject and message | Cloudflare Turnstile and email delivery |
| Word tools | Nothing — but a word list is downloaded from this site | ntools.xyz (the dictionary file itself) |
| Every other tool | Nothing | — |
Two things sit outside that table because they belong to the page rather than to any tool: advertising code loads only on selected pages. Tools handling sensitive input and the contact form do not load advertising code; site analytics may still load. They are described on the privacy and cookies pages, and they are the reason this section says "no tool sends your input anywhere" rather than "nothing leaves your browser".
If a tool ever starts sending data somewhere new, this table is the first thing that changes.
No accounts
There is nothing to sign up for. No tool is behind a login, a trial or a quota. Your language and theme choices, plus the last few tools you opened, are remembered in your own browser and never sent anywhere.
Languages
The site is published in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese. The Brazilian edition adds tools that only make sense there: CPF and CNPJ validation, postal-code lookup, WhatsApp links, instalment comparison and SAC versus Price amortisation.
How the guides are written and checked
nTools is an independent project, built and maintained by one developer. The guides next to the tools follow the same process every time:
- Facts come from primary sources: the standards and official documents that define them, such as RFCs, IANA registries and ECMA specifications, or the rules published by the authority concerned. Where a guide relies on one, it names it, and the networking guides list their sources at the end.
- Examples are run, not assumed: code samples are tested, calculations are worked through, and every statement about how an nTools tool behaves is checked against the tool itself.
- Guides published in all six languages are written in English first, and every translation is checked against the English before it is published.
- These guides show the date they were last updated, and the date changes whenever their content is corrected or brought up to date.
- Changes to the site go through automated checks before they are published: the pages in all six languages, their links and structured data, and the behaviour of several tools.
If you find a mistake in a guide or a tool, write to [email protected]; the correction is made in every language the page is published in.
How it is funded
nTools is free. The site includes Google AdSense code and may display advertising after Google approves the site and ad serving is enabled. Ads are never placed inside a tool’s result, and no tool is degraded or held back to promote them.
